Newton Open Studios
April 6 - April 7, 2013
Newton Open Studios, the biggest fine art and craft event in Newton and one of the largest in the region, is moving from mid-May to the first weekend in April. No more jockeying around the Newton Memorial parade, and multiple college graduations. We've found a weekend when visitors can truly relax and enjoy rambling through town to visit our artists and craftspeople. The event runs on Saturday and Sunday April 6-7, from 11am to 5pm, and is free.
NOS is 180 local artists creating over 50 "pop-up" exhibit/sales all across town, in their homes, their studios and gardens. Everyone's invited to this crazy quilt event - this once-a-year window into the artistic life of Newton.
Navigating our sumptuous art spread is easy. The full-featured website (NewtonOpenStudios.org) and printed guide will help you tailor a tour to your interests: On the website an interactive map, alphabetical listings, and 23 category listings will help you sift through the rich array of landscape, still life, photography, sculpture, abstract work, ceramics, jewelry and more. Each artist has a full page of images and information. The printed guide includes a full map, addresses of all our locations, plus an image and contact info for every artist. Download the guide from the website, or find a copy at the Newton Library and at local businesses.
All the NOS locations have plenty of free parking, and many have handicap access. Red balloons mark the locations.
