    Andrea Gibson / Shira E

Andrea Gibson is not gentle with her truths. It is this raw fearlessness that has led her to the forefront of the spoken word movement-the first winner of the Women's World Poetry Slam-Gibson has headlined prestigious performance venues coast to coast with powerful readings on war, class, gender, bullying, white privilege, sexuality, love, and spirituality.

Her work has been featured on the BBC, Air America, C-SPAN, Free Speech TV, and in 2010 was read by a state representative in lieu of morning prayer at the Utah Stat.

Shira E's award-winning music has appeared on NPR, national TV, and multiple independent films and she has shared stages with Coco Rosie and TuNe-YaRdS. Her experimental soul music is a magic trick turning all ears into doves. The songs are guttural experiments in re-defining how we dance. All sweat and sincerity and shaking asses. Over thick muscular beats, the clink and jangle of toy pianos, and a radiant wash of angelic wails, her powerful voice soars. She is turning a sonic key to find the room where Kate Bush and Michael Jackson are kissing underwater. Generous and uplifting, her heartfelt performances sway crowds toward joy and discovery.
