Mezzo soprano Jaime Korkos, one of NEC's Artist Diploma in Opera candidates and a student of Luretta Bybee, gives a Jordan Hall recital in partial fulfillment of the Diploma requirements. You've heard her in NEC's productions of Don Giovanni, Orfeo ed Euridice, and La Périchole, now come and hear her in recital. She is joined by faculty collaborative pianist Damien Francoeur-Krzyzek. Her program juxtaposes two song cycles about love, Robert Schumann's greatly beloved settings of Chamisso poems about a woman's life and love and the setting of Pablo Neruda love poems that composer Peter Lieberson wrote for his wife, the late Lorraine Hunt Lieberson. Prior to the concert, Professor Rufus Hallmark of Rutgers University and a specialist on the song cycles of Schumann will give a lecture on Frauenliebe und Leben, with musical examples performed by NEC pianist Patricia Au and student singers.
