March 11 - May 5, 2013
Musketaquid Arts & Environment announces its annual Earth Month Art Exhibit entitled “EDGES: Where Habitats Meet, Where Habits Meet” with a call for entries from artists of all ages and experience. The non-juried art show will run in the Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts Gallery from April 13 - May 5, with an Artist Reception on Sunday, April 21, 5-8 pm. Emerson Umbrella is located at 40 Stow St., Concord, MA 01742. www.emersonumbrella.org
The theme EDGES speaks to the need to recognize and deepen one’s connection and respect for their natural surroundings. Musketaquid welcomes craft and fine art in two or three dimensions, as well as photography, prose, poetry, music, video, and multi-media. Live performance proposals are welcome and performers will have the opportunity to present their work at the Artists Reception on April 21. Musketaquid encourages potential participants to consider the theme when placing their submissions.
Registration forms for the exhibit are available for download specifically at www.tinyurl.com/MQArtExhibit2013 or can be obtained by contacting Nancy Lippe, Musketaquid Arts & Environment Program Coordinator, email@example.com, 978-371-0820, x213. The forms are due at Musketaquid by Monday, April 1, with art work delivered to Emerson Umbrella by Tuesday April 9 between 3 and 6:30 pm.
Further background information:
Founded in 1990, Musketaquid Arts & Environment, the environmental arts wing of Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, is a place-based program whose mission is to provide opportunities to create and experience art and to explore, learn about, celebrate and care for the local environment. The name Musketaquid honors the wisdom of Concord, Massachusetts’s first people who named the area according to its nature, "the place where the waters flows through the grasses.” Every year, Musketaquid presents an Earth Day Celebration, this year to be held on Saturday, April 27, from 10 am-2 pm.
