Footloose: the musical
Presented by Theatre with a Twist
April 5 - April 7, 2013
Theatre with a Twist Inc. is proud to present ‘Footloose’, a musical based on the 1984 film of the same name. This is the classic tale of teen rebellion and repression. When teenager Ren McCormack and his family move from big-city Chicago to a small town in the West, he's in for a real case of culture shock. Though he tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can't quite believe he's living in a place where rock music and dancing are illegal. There is one small pleasure, however: Ariel Moore, a troubled but lovely girl with a jealous boyfriend. Reverand Shaw Moore, Ariel’s conservative minister father, is responsible for keeping the town dance-free. Ren and his classmates want to do away with this ordinance, especially since the senior prom is around the corner, but only Ren has the courage to initiate a battle to abolish the outmoded ban and revitalize the spirit of the repressed townspeople. Fast-paced drama is filled with such now-famous hit songs as the title track and "Let's Hear It for the Boy." Tickets are $13 adults and $11 students/seniors and can be bought on the website or at the door. Performances will be at Hale Middle School, 55 Hartley Rd, Stow MA, April 5 & 6 at 7pm, April 7 at 2pm. Suitable for all ages. The music is by Tom Snow, the lyrics by Dean Pitchford (with additional lyrics by Kenny Loggins, Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar & Jim Steinman), and the book by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. Footloose is licensed by Rodgers and Hammerstein Theatricles, 229 W. 28th St. New York,NY.
