Luke Marantz at the Brighton Branch Library

Jazz pianist Luke Marantz performs at the Brighton branch of the Boston Public Library. National Poetry Month and the Smithsonian's Jazz Appreciation Month coincide in April, making it the perfect time for a project that celebrates both. New England Conservatory and JazzBoston come together to present a poetry and jazz series - “Celebrating Poetry and Jazz Together”- at branches throughout the Boston Public Library system this April.

This series,in collaboration with U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, reminds us that the pairing of poetry and jazz has a long history. Come and hear NEC jazz students read jazz-influenced poems selected by Pinsky as well as original poems by the performers themselves, and then perform the music that inspired them. This series is presented by JazzBoston in collaboration with New England Conservatory and the Boston Public Library.
