Marvin Wolfthal: Schubert Piano Sonata in B flat, D. 960

Pianist Marvin Wolfthal will present a program in the Community Room which will include Franz Schubert's last piano sonata, Sonata in B flat, D. 960. Wolfthal, a Weston resident, was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He studied composition and piano at Columbia University. After living in Italy for 12 years, where he was active as a performer, teacher, lecturer and author, he returned to the U.S., joining the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music. He and his wife Katherine have resided in Weston since 1995. In 2009, Wolfthal's "Lulu Fantasy" for solo piano was awarded the prize for best new piano composition of the year by International Piano Magazine. The Weston Public Library is handicapped accessible. The concert is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
