The 18th Annual New Bedford Folk Festival, formerly called New Bedford Summerfest, will feature the best in contemporary, traditional and Celtic folk music from Saturday, July 6 through Sunday, July 7, 2013. The festival is located in the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center and the Whaling National Historical Park in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Called “one of the most exciting and smartly programmed festivals in the Northeast” and “New England’s most enjoyable folk festival”, New Bedford Folk Festival is an affordable destination for families seeking a fun-filled weekend. Featured among the nearly fifty musical acts are Lori McKenna, Cheryl Wheeler, John Gorka, Ellis Paul, Anais Mitchell, The Grand Slambovians, Vishtèn, Kevin Burke, Antje Duvekot, Michael Johnson, Brooks Williams, Beppe Gambetta, and the John Whalen Trio. The festival also features a high quality crafts show with over ninety juried, handmade crafts for sale at affordable prices, food including the justifiably world famous New Bedford landed fish and scallops, and a children’s activities area.
