Hostel Takeover is a celebration of the arts through an evening of music, artwork and poetry that take place in HI-Boston's Community Room and lobby. The event will showcase local artwork, photography, live music, poetry and culminate in a pub crawl, and is inspired by Hostelling International San Diego’s Hostel Takeover. Musical performers will have 30 minute sets with music ranging from traditional folk music to indy electronic. Local artwork will be displayed in HI-Boston’s Community Room for a three week period, with pieces ranging from photography to wood painting. Musicians and artists will not only get to meet area artists, but connect with travelers from all over the world who stay at the hostel. The Pro Arts Consortium is an organization that represents Berklee School of Music, the New England Conservatory, Emerson College, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and Boston Architectural College. They are dedicated to promoting visual and performing arts in the Boston area. Food and beverages will be provided and the evening will be topped off with a pub crawl of Boston's coolest drinking establishments.
