Since its first season in 2002, the Salem Theatre Company has hosted the annual “Shakespeare Open Mic” night to celebrate the birthday of the greatest playwright in the English language.
This year’s celebration will again be held at Gulu-Gulu Café, 247 Essex Street on the corner of Washington Street in downtown Salem on Tuesday, April 23rd at 8:00pm and, as always, the open mic is FREE for all.
Everyone is invited to share their performances, prepared or not, on-book or off-book, as the spirit moves them. Readers perform in first-come, first-served order. There is no advanced registration needed for this event. Those who wish to perform are asked to sign up at the registration table when they arrive. For those who would like to offer a spontaneous reading, the STC will have scripts available that may be borrowed.
