A photo Essay on Life in Contemporary Beijing and the Vanishing of Hutong Neighborhoods
April 11 – July 12, 2013
Photographer Joseph Levendusky explores the cultural paradigm of the old and the new Beijing. During his travels to China in 2010 he captured the vanishing traditional streetscapes of ancient Beijing and the people who live in those narrow, lively thoroughfares as time gradually runs out on their way of life. The exhibition, consisting of 48 black and white photographs, is accompanied by a Journal written by the photographer.
