Cantilena's "Poetic License", a Mother’s Day concert of brilliant poetry set to musical favorites from the group’s repertoire.
Cantilena’s special performance premieres "Jabberwocky", a new work by Boston composer Scott Wheeler, commissioned “In chortling celebration of the life of Mordena Babich.” Additional selections include Brian Holmes' touching version of Kenyon's poem "Let Evening Come", Eleanor Daley's moving treatment of Yeats' poem "The Lake Isle of Innisfree", Persichetti’s playful music to words of e. e. cummings , Kenneth Seitz’s interpretation of Hogan’s “I Know a Place”, settings of two Alarcón gems by Roger Bourland, and Shakespeare in Verdi’s Italian Macbeth.
