Metalwerx school for jewelry and metalsmithing opens its classrooms for a day of metalsmithing demonstrations and viewing of art jewelry by instructors and students. Learn about our upcoming classes and Summer with the Masters workshops led by internationally recognized metal artists. Visitors can tour our studio stocked with top notch tools and equipment, participate in demonstrations of chain maille construction, and go home with a pair of anodized aluminum chain maille earrings. Come see metalworking in action as students practice on ongoing projects. Instructors, staff, and our hard-working community of students and volunteers will be on hand to answer all questions related to jewelry-making and metalsmithing, as well as the school’s mission, curriculum, scholarship opportunities, use of our classroom for independent open studio work, or community bench rentals. Karen Karon, instructor and author of Chain Maille Jewelry Workshop (Interweave press), will lead a mini-demonstration on how to connect metal rings to make classic beautiful jewelry. Participants can quickly create a free pair of earrings to take home! Enjoy refreshments while previewing our 2013 “Summer with the Masters” week-long and weekend workshops, and ongoing weekly classes in basic and advanced jewelry-making.
