The Heritage Chorale of MetroWest will be performing a concert on Saturday, May 11th, in the Village Church in downtown Wellesley. Titled “Mystical Melodies”, this concert will include Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, featuring Baritone Soloist Philip Lima. Lima sang with Heritage in Carmina Burana last spring and was very popular with the audience. Among other pieces on the program and very appropriate for Mothers’ Day is the hauntingly beautiful Five Hebrew Love Songs, written by currently popular composer Eric Whitacre, with Hebrew lyrics by his wife. The Chorale’s stellar accompanist Darryl Hollister, who is celebrating his 25th anniversary with Heritage, will be featured in a Faure piece, accompanied by a string quintet. Closing out the program will be A Jubilant Song by Dello Joio, which offers exciting harmonies and driving rhythms. This event is sponsored by the Massachusetts Local Cultural Council and by the Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Organization. Heritage Chorale has approximately 98 members from 30 area towns, including Wellesley, under John Finney, Music Director at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church and Chorus master of the Handel and Haydn Society and the Boston College Concert Chorus. They will be ending their season with their rescheduled Pops Concert on June 9th. More information made be found at heritagechorale.org or by calling 508-270-3999.
