    A New Birth of Freedom

    Musica Sacra will perform choral music from the time of the Civil War and modern-day settings of the poetry of Walt Whitman and Herman Melville.     Musica Sacra will perform choral music from the time of the Civil War and modern-day settings of the poetry of Walt Whitman and Herman Melville. We will be joined by special guest Jacqueline Schwab, the celebrated improvisational pianist of Ken Burns’ series “The Civil War.” In addition, students from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School will recite Lincoln’s speeches and other texts that gave hope to so many — to soldiers who were far from home, to families left behind, and to slaves who dreamed of freedom.
