    Glove Puppetry Boot Camp!

Presented by at Puppet Showplace Theater

    June 10 - July 1, 2013

    Glove Puppetry Boot Camp!

Glove puppetry is one of the world’s oldest and most versatile theatrical traditions. From China’s acrobatic Monkey King to England’s Punch and Judy, all glove puppeteers must master the art of bringing characters and stories to life using only their hands.

In this fun and rigorous class, PST's Artist in Residence Brad Shur will guide participants through drills designed to improve your coordination and expressivity. Starting with basic exercises for manual dexterity and building towards complete character-based scenes, students will acquire a movement vocabulary that allows their hands to express almost any emotion or action. Participants will also gain exposure to PST's unique archive of professional hand puppets and will be able to experience working behind a hand puppet stage. Whether you're a seasoned performer or just looking for a way to enliven story time, this boot camp will make your hands ready for action!
