Presented by Quincy Symphony Orchestra
May 18, 2013
The Quincy Symphony Orchestra (QSO), under the direction of Yoichi Udagawa, concludes its 59th season by honoring its heritage as the City of Presidents with a tribute to President Abraham Lincoln at Lloyd Hill Performing Arts Center at Quincy High School on May 18 at 8:00 p.m.. The QSO will be accompanied during the “Pops-style” concert by Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch, who will narrate the symphonic adventure, “A Lincoln Portrait,” which recounts the equal rights declarations Abraham Lincoln brought forth in his presidential administration. In addition to honoring the late president in the season’s final concert, the QSO’s program will include a full presentation of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” highlights from the Broadway musical “Oklahoma,” a “Pops Hoedown” and other light classical and Broadway selections.
