Science on Screen: Terminator 2: Judgment Day
May 20, 2013
Director James Cameron’s T2 brought special effects to eye-popping new heights and raised the bar for action films the world over. A decade after the original Terminator wreaked havoc on Sarah Connor, Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as another Model 101 cyborg. But this time he’s a good guy, reprogrammed and teleported to the past to protect Sarah’s son John from the evil T-1000, a newer, more advanced Terminator, made entirely of shape-shifting liquid metal. Wearable computing pioneer and MIT Media Lab alum Thad Starner, a leading expert on what it’s like to lead a cyborg’s life, introduces the screening. Starner, whose work was influenced by the Terminator films, is Associate Professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech and a Technical Lead on Google's Project Glass.
