About the Listen to My Heart Performance
With David seated at the piano, the 5 singers serve as “voices” in his head, bringing him information about life, love, humor and spirituality that he doesn’t necessarily have, so that he can pass it on to us. The subjects he writes about, though extremely personal to him, seem to have such a universality that over and over again people who see the show say that they feel like they’ve just gone through their own lives and experienced insights and emotions that moved them to laughter and tears in ways they may have never been moved before. Listen to My Heart is for any audience, young or old, who is interested in laughing and crying through songs that deepen and enrich their experience of their own lives.
Listen To My Heart, originally performed in New York at Upstairs at Studio 54, has played numerous American cities as well as London, Ireland, Germany and Australia, and was most recently seen as the opening show of the new Stageworks Theatre in Tampa.
“Does justice to the expectations of a musical theater audience starved for the songwriting verities of the golden past.”
