    Silent Wagner

    Silent Wagner (1912)

The film, directed by Carl Fröhlich and written by William Wauer, is about the life of Richard Wagner and was released in Europe in the spring of 1913. Originally intended to have an all-Wagner musical accompaniment, the film’s score is written by Italian composer Giuseppe Becce because Wagner’s heirs reportedly requested a large sum for the use of Wagner’s music. Due to Becce’s uncanny resemblance to Wagner, he was also engaged to play the title role!
