    La Nuit de la Musique

Boston, MA, June 3, 2013: Community Music Center of Boston (CMCB) announces La Nuit de la Musique, modeled after La Fete de la Musique, which occurs throughout France as a summer celebration on the solstice. CMCB will present an hour of live music from 6pm to 7pm outside Hamersley’s Bistro and the Beehive, South End Buttery, and Cinquecento—all in the South End. These performances will be free to the public. CMCB will also partner with Washington Gateway Main Street, which will produce a free concert on the same evening at Blackstone Square 4:00 to 9:00. These performances will be free to the public and there will also be food trucks vending outside of the square.

Afterwards, CMCB’s orchestra and senior wind ensemble, along with special guests, will perform at the Benjamin Franklin Institute, followed by a private reception at 40 Berkley. Contributions to the concert and reception are $100 for supporters and $150 for special friends. All proceeds benefit the CMCB Scholarship Fund and can be made at www.cmcb.org.

In Paris, La Fete de la Musique allows the expression of all styles of music in a cheerful atmosphere, working to popularize musical practice for young and not so young people from all social backgrounds. It also is a way to encourage music institutions (orchestra, operas, choirs, etc.) to perform outside their usual locations. It is now a worldwide event, with 450 cities in 116 countries celebrating free, live music by amateurs and professionals alike.

CMCB invites you to stroll through our historic and beautiful South End neighborhood, listen to the wonderful live music, and visit local businesses and galleries.
