Presented by at Berklee Performance Center

    June 13, 2013

Berklee College Percussion Department faculty member Bertram Lehmann unites with musical friends for an evening of contemporary Brazilian music and jazz. Inspired by the particular elegiac lyricism of artists hailing from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, the concert will include music by Milton Nascimento, Toninho Horta, as well as other Brazilian and American composers - whose musical language is similarly harmonically lush and deeply melodic - such as the genial Vince Mendoza, legendary Wayne Shorter, and emerging Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca.

Various configurations ranging from a trio to larger, woodwind-based ensembles are going to be featured, and include special guest vocalist Regina Benedetti and piccolo-bassist Ebinho Cardoso. The further cast of players includes Maxim Lubarsky (piano), Jesse Williams (bass), Tucker Antell (sax), and Paul Lieberman (flute).
