Arsenal Center's 2013 Members' Show
Presented by Arsenal Center for the Arts
June 15 - August 23, 2013
Featuring 68 artists, the Members’ Show is the Arsenal Center’s longest-running, largest, and most-applied-to exhibition each year, drawing a large percentage of new members eager to show their work. This year, the show features colorful collages, prints, photographs, paintings, drawings, sculpture and mixed media. The works range from the finely-drawn whimsical Pen & Doodle Series by Carolyn Bensinger to Richard Hill’s large-scale acrylic take on Paul Bunyan sitting down to breakfast in the great outdoors with Johnny Appleseed, humorously entitled: At Least We Can All Agree on Flapjacks.
Others evoke the subtle, flowing movement of a dancer in Water & Rust/Horizontal Movement (Alice Leigh Faramarzapour), the weathered wood of a Concord Barn in Ruth Nelson’s tangibly close photo printed on archival paper or an abstract burst of energy in broad, brightly colored up-strokes in Cindy Cuba Clements’ Finally Spring.
