Clues in the Landscape: What Once Was
August 24, 2013
Mount Auburn’s historic landscape has seen many changes since it was first developed 181 years ago. Bodies of water have been filled in, iconic monuments have been removed, natural disasters have wreaked havoc, and buildings have been demolished to make way for the new. Though much of the physical evidence of this history has been lost to time, if you know where to look, you’ll find that the landscape has actually preserved much of this “lost” history for us! Come explore Mount Auburn’s past with Mount Auburn’s Cemetery Development & Preservation Associate Katie Robinson as she guides you, aided by historical documents and clues in the landscape, in a search for what once was.
