Celtic Crosses at Mount Auburn
August 25, 2013
A Celtic Cross is a symbol that combines a cross with a ring surrounding the intersection. Although its history can be traced back to the late Iron Age, in the mid-19th century there was a Celtic Revival and new versions of Celtic crosses were designed for fashionable cemetery monuments. At Mount Auburn there are various styles of the Celtic cross and Volunteer Docent Ginny Brady will lead us on a walking tour to explore some of these designs and the families behind them.
