Susan French Overstreet is an impressionist artist residing on Cape Cod. Her art reveals the beauty and unique energy of each landscape, body, or subject that she paints. When not painting in the studio or on a beach cove, she can be found performing live wedding paintings.
Susan’s career has taken a circuitous path led by two passions: art and politics. She says of her careen and work: “my journey has triggered an evolution in expression, and a renewed commitment to concentrate on my own style. Capturing not only the physical features in representational form, but also revealing the energy and spirit of life’s interactions “in the moment” is my motivation. Expressing through art is part of my well-being and the joy is multiplied when my creations are shared and bring joy to others. Similar to the Impressionists and the Cape Cod painters led by Hawthorne, I seek the light and consider myself extending from those schools. I enjoy and grow from working in a number of media: oils, watercolors, acrylics, pen and ink, and have sculpted in stone and clay. My media of choice “at the moment” is acrylic: it allows me to work fast, the colors are brilliant, and it is compatible with my expressive style.” Susan has been living on Cape Cod since 2010.
