Much Ado About Nothing in Lynn Woods
Presented by Arts After Hours
July 27 - August 11, 2013
Arts After Hours will present the 2nd Annual Shakespeare in Lynn Woods with a production of Much Ado About Nothing.
The play will take place near Breeds Pond, off of Jackson Path, in a clearing that contains an old bandstand where dances were held in the 1940s. The production’s design team has set this Shakespearean classic in the 1890s in Lynn, Massachusetts. Our set design will create a beautiful summer estate at the height of Lynn’s industrial boom. Earlier this summer, in a delightful coincidence, volunteers from General Electric in Lynn cleaned up the area, bringing back the bandstand to its former glory.
This marks Arts After Hours’ second collaboration with students of Boston University’s Graduate Program in Directing. Thomas Martin, director of last year’s Twelfth Night, serves as Artistic Director of this production. Hondo Weiss-Richmond directs Much Ado About Nothing.
The production will feature full costumes, props, and furnishings as well as original compositions by Gina Naggar, which will be performed by live musicians throughout the woods. “This play is about love and its power to bring out the best and the worst in each of us,” says Hondo Weiss-Richmond, stage director. “We can’t wait to take audiences on an unforgettable journey as we bring these amazing Shakespearean characters to life.”
For those audience members enjoying a picnic with us, you will pick up your picnic at the box office up to 1 hour prior to show time and our ushers will guide you to the picnic area. Please bring blanket and/or chair for your picnic comfort.
