Imaginary Beasts is an incubator for adventurous theater-making that provides their members with a unique chance to explore and develop theater in an ongoing studio environment. Devoted to pushing the boundaries of how theater is made and who can make it, they bring together traditional and non-traditional performance artists to produce work for an electric public.
For Imaginary Beasts’ Outside The Box performance, follow the ensemble through the looking glass and into Wonderland with their delightfully nonsensical performance of Poxes in Boxes. When HD receives an invitation to tea with the Queen, he can hardly refuse the offer. He is hesitant, however, to the leave his fellow messengers alone with his most precious possessions - so he hatches a plan to prevent the hapless Hatta and Haigha from making their usual mischief. His carefully laid plan backfires, of course, and much hilarity ensues. Poxes in Boxes is a "pop up" performance and might happen anywhere, anytime on the Boston Common.
Imaginary Beasts is part of the Emerging Theater Company program at the Boston Center for the Arts. Matthew Woods, a graduate of Hamilton College, Clinton, New York and the A.R.T. Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University serves as Artistic Director.
