SUPERPERFECT Paintings by Jason Chase
Presented by Albright Art Gallery
September 4 - October 27, 2013
Jason Chase delights with his super perfect world of paintings painted bigger, brighter and better than reality. With his tongue firmly in his cheek he presents iconic everyday images deftly rendered, from over-advertised American culture. Raised by a television in suburban America -- tuned in to all the big, bold, shiny things being sold in big, bold, shiny commercials. One of the artist’s first memories is the colors of the cereal aisle flashing by as he rode in his mom’s grocery cart. He still see things this way. Like more of us than we’d like to admit, he is more likely to notice an ad on the side of the highway than the forest behind it. This mini-retrospective spans paintings by Chase over the past decade. It includes his hyper-realistic oil paintings and also his more calm and muted silk paintings.
