    Cheryl Wheeler & Ellis Paul

Leaders of the New England folk music scene, Cheryl Wheeler and Ellis Paul are two artists whose mesmerizing voices and delicate poetry have captured stories of the past, present, and future. With over 14 Boston Music Awards to call his own, Ellis has had a career spanning sixteen albums and Cheryl’s music ranges from heart-wrenching to humorous.  As a songwriter, her songs have been covered by such musical legends as Bette Middler, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and Garth Brooks.

Cheryl’s captivating songs have been covered by icons such as Bette Midler, Kenny Loggins, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and Garth Brooks. In 1976, Cheryl played bass for Jonathan Edwards and has performed her own works on tour with Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Cheryl has several albums to her name and also appears as a guest artist on Patty Larkin’s album 25.  Cheryl’s album Pointing at the Sun was voted by NPR’s Northern Colorado listeners as best album by a singer/songwriter in 2010. She has performed at folk festivals around the U.S. and Canada including The Lunenburg Folk Harbor Festival in Nova Scotia and the Belleville Roots Music Festival in Newburyport.

“Ms. Wheeler is skilled at being poetic in her language, yet clear in her meaning...”  - The Graham Weekly Album Review

“…achingly honest songs of love and loss.”-Boston Globe

“Contrasting the prosaic landscapes of her native small-town America with the hopelessly rootless life of the traveling performer, she touches the common chords with any who feel the tug between our busy, noisome times and the timeless longing for simplicity and silence.” -Boston Globe

With a charismatic charm and urban folk-rock style, Ellis Paul led a ‘90s revival in folk-rock music. Merging the folk and pop genres together, Ellis began his career as the opening act for folk legend Bill Morrissey and was named Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk Competition winner in 1994. Ellis’ songs have been featured in television shows and movies such as “Ed”, “Hall Pass”, “Me, Myself, & Irene,” and “Shallow Hal.” He has toured with other leading folk rock artists such as Shawn Colvin and John Gorka, as well as performing on the Woody Guthrie tribute tour “Ribbon of Highway, Endless Skyway.” Ellis has shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen, Ani DiFranco, and Bill Bragg, and over the course of his career, he has made 16 albums and earned 14 Boston Music Awards, a Boston Acoustic Underground Award, and the Boston College Arts Council Alumni Award for Artistic Achievement.

“No emerging songwriter in recent memory has been more highly touted and respected by songwriters.”-Boston Globe

“…Wise, tender, brilliant and biting, Ellis is one of our best human compasses, marking in melodies and poems where we've been and where we might go if we so choose to…”- Nora Guthrie
