The English Beat are a 2 Tone ska revival band founded in Birmingham, England in 1978. Their songs fuse ska, pop, soul, reggae and punk rock, and their lyrics deal with themes of love, unity and sociopolitical topics. With numerous hits like Save It For Later, Tenderness, I confess, and Hands Off, She's Mine, The Beat dominated the ska scene throughout the 80's and easily became one of the most popular recording and live acts in the UK. They have also toured alongside some of the biggest performing artists such as The Clash, The Police, REM, Talking Heads, The Pretenders, and of course The Specials.
