Bursting with energy, humor, romance, laughter, sorrow, and hope, the Winchester Players' fall production "The Fantasticks" will fill the stage of Chidley Hall of the First Congregational Church of Winchester. A moving love story, with lilting music, and spritely choreography, the show is, understandably, the longest running musical in the world.

The story is ageless. Two foolish fathers plot to build a wall between their gardens to make their teenagers fall in love. Although romance blooms in the magical dreamscape of moonlight, the two men hire a con man to stage an abduction allowing the boy to seem to rescue the girl. All goes as planned; love prevails, and the wall falls. However, in the blazing rays of the sun, the fathers bicker, the children discover they have lived in a dream world, and must experience harsh reality before they can find real love. They find "Without a hurt the heart is hollow".
