Stand for UMass Day Featuring Music, Rolly Rally & Celebrations

To mark its 150th anniversary, the University of Massachusetts Amherst – the Commonwealth’s flagship campus – will bring the celebration to Boston for a day of festivities at the State House and Faneuil Hall. Stand for UMass Day will feature a brief ceremony on the State House’s Grand Stairway and a performance by the University’s nationally recognized Minuteman Marching Band. Participants include State Senate Majority Leader Stan Rosenberg, State Representative Ellen Story and as many as 20 State legislators who are UMass Amherst alums. State House ceremonies will be followed by a rolling rally through the streets of Boston and a public celebration, featuring remarks by UMass President Robert Caret, UMass Amherst Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy, UMass Board of Trustees Chair Henry Thomas, a special performance by the Minuteman Marching Band. In addition, attendees will receive free cupcakes and special UMass Amherst anniversary car magnets.
