Presented by at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

    November 17, 2013

25th Boston Jewish Film Festival - El Gusto

Disbanded by the 1954 Algerian Revolution, an orchestra of young Jews and Muslims in the city of Algiers went silent for sixty years. That is, until filmmaker Safinez Bousbia fell in love with their infectious Chaabi music, Sephardic Spanish rhythms with Arabic sound. She brought the El Gusto orchestra back together, its members 70 to 100 years old, for a joyful reunion and a wildly successful musical tour of Europe, reminiscent of The Buena Vista Social Club.

Screening preceded by musical performance by Jacques Pardo’s Trio, starting at 2:15 p.m.
The Museum of Fine Arts will close at 4:45 p.m. and everyone must exit the Museum at that time. It will re-open at 6 p.m. for Boston Closing Night Film. Please use State Street Corporation Fenway entrance.
