25th Boston Jewish Film Festival - Esther Broner - A Weave of Women
November 17, 2013
A sterling biography of the Jewish author and women’s rights advocate who, bringing her political beliefs to her religion, co-wrote THE WOMEN'S HAGGADAH, providing a revisionist text for patriarchal Seder services. Broner’s HAGGADAH, devised in 1975, has been utilized since at countless Passover meals, including women as active participants in the Jewish emancipation from the land of Egypt. Produced under The National Center for Jewish Film's Fiscal Sponsorship Program.
Discussion to include filmmaker Lilly Rivlin, Joyce Antler, professor of American Jewish History and Culture and Women's and Gender Studies at Brandeis University and Lori Lefkovitz, professor and director of Jewish Studies at Northeastern University, moderated by Gail Twersky Reimer, Executive Director of the Jewish Women's Archive.
