The Heritage Chorale will be performing the first concert of its 77th season - Masterpieces of Bach and Handel, to be performed on Sunday, November 24th at 4pm at St Mark’s School in Southborough. Musical Director John Finney will be conducting the group, with full orchestra and professional soloists.
Handel’s great oratorio Messiah is one of the most well-loved choral works of all time. The group will be singing Part III, including the "Thanks Be to God" movement featuring the full chorus, which will be a perfect beginning to the 2013 Thanksgiving week. The transcendent “Amen” chorus that ends the work is considered by many to be one of the finest achievements of all choral music.
The concert will also feature Bach’s Missa Brevis in G Major that is rarely performed, but stunningly effective. It is a joyous and celebratory work, with beautiful choruses, exquisite solo arias, and a rich and vibrant orchestral accompaniment. It is based on the famous Bach Chorale, "Nun Danket Alle Gott" ("Now Thank We All Our God") that also lends itself to thoughts of Thanksgiving for the 2013 year.
The Chorale also will be thanking its Season Sponsor, the Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Corp. (http://www.heritageassistedliving.org or www.maryannmorse.org).
