BettySoo & A Version of Happiness

    Presented by Lyric Hall

    November 10, 2013

BettySoo & A Version of Happiness

Acclaimed singer/songwriter BettySoo will return to New Haven Sunday, November 10, for a performance at Lyric Hall, 827 Whalley Avenue, New Haven, CT. As a featured soloist in the theatrical biography of Bob Dylan Long Time Gone, BettySoo shone on the Lyric Hall stage during the show’s one month run in New Haven earlier this year, to rave reviews – both for her powerful musical prowess as well as for her sensitive gift of interpretation.

For her return appearance, BettySoo will be performing original compositions with her Austin, Texas-based band A Version of Happiness, also known as renowned cellist Brian J. Standefer and drummer/percussionist Dave Terry.

BettySoo, with her sweet soprano voice (and its fair share of growl), became widely known for her songwriting after winning several prestigious performing songwriter competitions, including Kerrville New Folk, Mountain Stage NewSong, Sisters Folk Festival and Big Top Chautauqua’s Songwriter of the Year, as well as being a featured songwriter on NPR’s The Story and at Nashville’s Tin Pan South.

She has performed at numerous festivals and venues, including SXSW, International Folk Alliance, Kerrville Folk Festival, Vancouver Island MusicFest, Sisters Folk Festival, Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, Calgary Folk Fest, and more. BettySoo’s music further drew widespread attention when Starbucks stores selected several of her songs for nationwide in-store play, and awareness of her music continued to spread, thanks to heavy play on XM/Sirius satellite radio, Galaxie Music, and terrestrial radio. She was also recently a featured performer at ACL-Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas.
