Weekend Poetry Series Presents Jillian Weise

The Concord Public Library’s Weekend Poetry Series kicks off its 2013-2014 season with poet Jillian Weise, Sunday, November 10 at 3 pm in the Main Library, 129 Main Street, Concord. This event is free, and is followed by a book signing and reception.
Weise is the author of “The Amputee’s Guide to Sex” and “The Book of Goodbyes”, as well as the novel “The Colony”. She won the 2013 Isabella Gardner Poetry Award from BOA Editions and the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets, which recognizes a superior second book of poetry by an American poet. Weise’s work has appeared in The Atlantic, The New York Times, Tin House and elsewhere. The Poetry Foundation selected one of her poems for the film series Poetry Everywhere. She has received fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Fulbright Program and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She teaches at Clemson University.
