artKitchen Presents Vanessa Morris and Scott Sandvik

Morris’ unique sound is a blend of influences from Betty Carter and Nina Simone to Antonio Jobim and Al Green. She is a classically trained pianist who branched into jazz at the Oberlin Conservatory and continued graduate work in Jazz Studies at New England Conservatory. Her music is simultaneously laid back and electrically charged. The softness of her voice at times is incongruous with the intensity of her music.
