CCM Faculty Concert, Guitarist Juanito Pascual

Flamenco and Contemporary Guitar Phenom to Perform at Concord Conservatory
Flamenco guitarist and composer Juanito Pascual, whom NPR has called “one of the hottest Flamenco guitarists to emerge in recent years,” will perform at the CCM Faculty Concert on Friday, January 10th at 7 p.m. The program will include Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez for Guitar and Orchestra, the treat of some of Mr. Pascual’s own compositions, and jazz standards performed with CCM’s talented jazz faculty.

Mr. Pascual has performed all over the world, working with high-caliber flamenco, jazz, and classical musicians. Most recently, he was in Spain to perform with Flamenco singer/dancer Elena Andujar and the members of the Maria Pages Dance Company in Madrid. “Juanito is a kind of Ry Cooder of flamenco guitar – he combines vivid color, a rich imagination and a yearning, never-satisfied with mastery of his art,” says Steve Morse of the Boston Globe and Rolling Stone contributor.

He has been featured on NPR’s The World program and worked on prestigious projects such as Osvoldo Golijov’s chamber opera Ainadamar, which won a Grammy and also featured soprano Dawn Upshaw. Juanito Pascual has also appeared on film, in Pink Panther 2 alongside the likes of Steve Martin and Andy Garcia!

The January 10th concert is free and open to the public and made possible in part by the generous support of the Middlesex Savings Bank. The Concord Conservatory of Music is located at 1317 Main Street, Concord, in the West Concord Union Church.
