The Seraphim Singers presents: La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc
Presented by Seraphim Singers
April 5, 2014
Following their tradition of innovative programming, The Seraphim Singers, in collaboration with International Sonic Artist and organist Peter Krasinski, provide choral elaboration and improvised organ accompaniment to the 1928 French silent film “La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc.” Based on the actual trial record of Joan of Arc, the film of Carl Theodor Dreyer is widely regarded as a landmark of cinema.
The film will be preceded by a panel discussion, with Boston College film historian John Michalczyk to discuss the film; Peter Krasinski to discuss the music; and Professor Karen Sullivan, Brandeis Professor of Romance Culture and Literature at Bard College and author of “The Interrogation of Joan of Arc,” to discuss the figure of Joan of Arc. Visit www.seraphimsingers.org for panel start time.
Presented by permission of Janus Films, with a generous grant from The Institute for the Liberal Arts at Boston College.
