Next Generation Recital: Matthew Woodard, violin & Christopher Staknys, piano

Christopher Staknys and Matthew Woodard are young musicians/composers who will perform works by Beethoven, Copland, Khachaturian, Howard Frazin, as well as compositions of their own.
Both are composition students of Howard Frazin of the New England Conservatory. Staknys is a winner of many competitions, and in 2012, his composition “Congo” was premiered by the Portland Symphony Orchestra. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Bard College, Matthew Woodard is a violin student of Laurie Smulker and an avid chamber musician and composer, Matthew is an alumnus of From the Top, and has participated in many summer festivals, and his viola concerto was premiered with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra in 2012, with Matthew as soloist. His most recent commission, a woodwind trio, was premiered in April of 2013 at the Rivers School in Weston, as part of their conservatory’s 35th Annual Seminar on Contemporary music for the Young.
