February 9, 2014
The Vienna Concert-Verein Orchestra has achieved international stature performing at Vienna’s Muskverein for more than twenty years. This U.S. tour concert repertoire will include the waltzes of Johann Strauss, as well as symphonies and piano concertos of Beethoven and Mozart. Both Maestro Entremont and pianist Sebastian Knauer have performed to great acclaim as part of past Music Worcester seasons. Sebastian Knauer, last heard in Worcester with Entremont in January 2011, returns with Beethoven’s virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 3.
Philippe Entremont, conductor and pianist, has been an anchor of classical music worldwide for over 50 years. He will lead the Vienna Concert-Verein Orchestra on a US-tour that will include staples of the classical repertoire. Few musicians attain legendary status like Philippe Entremont. Famous for his recordings as a piano concerto soloist under Eugene Ormandy and for his decades-long conducting career, Maestro Entremont returns to Worcester with a spectacular Viennese program to showcase the precision and finesse of his current orchestra
