Music Worcester presents The Worcester Symphonic Project
March 22, 2014
Led by its Artistic Director Peter Sulski, former member of the London Symphony Orchestra, currently member of QX Quartet and Artistic Director and member of the Worcester Chamber Music Society - the Worcester Symphonic Project will present a grand concert in Mechanics Hall bringing together college students, conservatory students from Worcester County, local qualified high school students, and professional musician coaches and mentors.
Following its successful, inaugural event this past Spring, the Worcester Symphonic Project this year brings together the greater Worcester collegiate community for a performance of works by Mozart and Haydn.
Conductor Jorge Soto, a close friend and colleague of Gustavo Dudamel, and Conductor Eric Culver will lead the combined orchestra for the performance. Maestro Soto, a graduate of the El Sistema program in Venezuela just like Dudamel, is currently pursuing advanced studies in conducting at New England Conservatory. Maestro Culver currently directs the Holy Cross Chamber Orchestra and received his D.M.A. in Conducting from Catholic University.
The afternoon will include, in addition to works by Mozart and Haydn, a concert band performance and jazz ensemble entertainment post-concert.
Mozart Symphony No. 35 in D Major K. 385 ("Haffner")
Haydn Symphony No. 104 in D Major ("London")
