“…The ballet glitters in its intensity and its edges could cut glass.” The Boston Globe
“…the antithesis of stuffy, over polished dance…The intimacy lends Mateo’s dynamic choreography a raw power that is compulsively watchable…”
Best of Boston Dance Performance 2011, Boston Magazine
Take a journey with celebrated dancemaker Jose Mateo through dance’s vast range of dramatic expression, from the emotionally restrained to the passionately unbridled. Great musical works from the Classical, Romantic and Modern styles are the forces behind this concert of three ballet favorites from Mateo’s repertory that will escort you to personal realms of love, courtship and sensuality.
Unbridled features Mateo’s Schubert Adagio (Schubert), Mozart Concerto (Mozart), and Sound Secrets (Bartok).
The concert offers a unique theater experience with an extraordinary close-up view of the dancers, reserved cabaret-style seating and cocktails during the show. Hailed by Boston Magazine as “Best of Boston 2011 Dance Performance”, the glorious Sanctuary Theatre is home to Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre and considered one of the area’s most spectacular performance spaces
