    ?The preeminent male singer-songwriter of what has been dubbed the New Folk Movement.? ?Rolling Stone With 11 critically acclaimed albums, John Gorka is widely recognized as one of the forefathers of the folk movement that stirred coffeehouses in the 1980s. Collaborations with artists like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ani DiFranco, and Nanci Griffith helped solidify his place in the folk music world, as did his multifaceted songs filled with depth, beauty, and emotion. Most recently, Gorka joined Lucy Kaplansky and Eliza Gilkyson to form the folk supergroup Red Horse, releasing a self-titled album in 2010.
