Arts Activities: Each day, children will be given the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of visual arts projects and techniques ranging from crafts projects to painting, printmaking and sculpture. All artwork will be yours to take home at the end of each session. Children will be taught traditional technical skills but will also be encouraged to work on original creations and will be given freedom to use their imaginations for innovation and creative problem-solving. The Vacation Arts Program is a non-competitive environment that encourages each young artist to develop their interests, grow in their own personal style and work with others as they explore the world of art.
Field Trips: On Friday the groups will attend a field trip to a local arts & cultural institution. If applicable, children will be taking public transportation to and from this location. There is no additional cost of participating in field trips and a bagged lunch is provided. Specific information regarding field trips each session will be sent at the start of the program.
Yoga: Youth will participate in an hour long Yoga class by Urbanity Instructors that will help develop strength, flexibility, coordination and focus. Through the use of Yoga postures children experience new ways to move their bodies and express themselves.
Creative Movement & Dance: Through a partnership with Urbanity Dance Studio, children will learn a variety of contemporary dance techniques such as jazz, ballet and hip hop.
Musical Theater: Rhythm, beats and tones will provide an exciting, expressive, and fun environment to stimulate children's developing brains.
