MIT Killian Hall Music Lecture Series: American Experiment
April 12, 2014
This ongoing music series based at MIT explores American music by American composers and foreign composers who were influenced by America.
The April concert features the Ellipsis Piano Trio introducing and playing works by composers Roberto Sierra, Ernst Bloch, Amy Beach. It also features the world premiere of D.J. Sparr's new work for piano trio based on songs of the Pilgrims.
Sparr's music is “pop-Romantic… iridescent and wondrous” (Mercury News) and “suits the boundary erasing spirit of today’s new-music world” (New York Times).
