Cinephile Sunday: Sans Soleil (Sunless)
February 9, 2014
This spring, the Wellesley College Cinéphile Sundays series lingers over cinema's remarkable explorations of memory. Our first selection, Sans Soleil (Sunless), is a nonlinear essay film by elusive documentary filmmaker Chris Marker. It is a collage of images from around the world, all presented without direct sound. The soundtrack consists of occasional spells of electronic music while an unseen woman narrates letters from a traveler in poetic verse.
