South Shore Conservatory: Annual Performathon
April 4 - April 6, 2014
South Shore Conservatory (SSC) is proud to announce their annual performance marathon Performathon - Kids Helping Kids. The fundraiser has become so popular with SSC students that it is expanding to three days at the bookstore.
Performathon offers Conservatory students of all ages the opportunity to hone their performing skills out in the community, as they help raise money for the Conservatory's Scholarship Fund by soliciting pledges from sponsors. Last year, close to 300 Conservatory studetns participated in Performathon and raised 15% of the total financial aid budget.
On April 4, 5 and 6, Performathon participants perform in hourly "sets" throughout the day. Audience members may stay for one, two or more "sets," and have time to browse the aisles of Barnes & Noble. Perfomances include solo and chanber pieces on piano, saxophone, flute, trumpet, guitar, oboe, clarinet, percussion, violin, viola and cello as well as voice, and drama scenes.
Audience members, parents and friends of the Conservatory are encouraged to lend their support by sponsoring a Performathon participant. New this year, donations and pledges can also be made online at www.sscmusic.org/Performathon.html. Friends can also help by making purchases at Barnes & Noble and mentioning South Shore Conservatory. Those who cannot attend Performathon, but wish to help, may shop online at www.bn.com/bookfairs from April 4 through 11 and enter Bookfair Voucher #11295532 at checkout. SSC is very grateful to Barnes & Noble for its generous support and hospitality.
